WorldCarFans.com Redesign Launched
Press Release
Since the launching of GermanCarFans.com back in 2001 to the WorldCarFans.com (WCF) you see today, the evolution continues. With this latest version (v3.5) our main goal was to improve the overall feel of the pages and increase functionality with a faster and easier navigation system.
Yes, finally videos!
As always, we strive to keep the content fresh and captivating. WCF v3.5 adds a new dimension with videos which will be updated on a regular basis with the latest manufacturer promos, original WCF productions and anything else we stumble upon. At first we will start slow, building to a level which will hopefully keep up, if not out pace our normal photo and editorial content.
Keeping it fresh
Another new little feature is the "Artist's Corner" which contains an artist's illustration at the top of all pages (page header) where the WorldCarFans.com logo appears. We will showcase a new illustration in this space on a regular basis (every month or whenever we feel like it). Long time WCF contributor Hussein Al-Attar, more famously known for his excellent spy photo renderings will be the main contributor for this space. However, we may decide to accept reader submissions or have a contest. Stay tuned.
Version 3.5 offers:
-
New video category
-
Navigation menu
Relocated to left side table
Improved "flyout" menu for more efficient and faster navigation
Jump to a manufacturer
-
New graphic design
New WCF logo
New "Artist's Corner" page header
Larger thumbnails (for faster and easier skimming)
Future plans
It was only 10 months ago that v3.0 redesign was launched with some strong points as well as weaknesses and we have finally corrected those weaknesses. We are satisfied with our progress for the time being, however, we cannot sit still for too long. Well overdue, we plan to launch "Asian Cars" in early 2007. The Asian car category will include all of the top car manufacturers most notably from Korea, China, India and Southeast Asia.
Our European and Asian traffic is steadily growing and we have already begun building a European based server cluster to help make the site faster for visitors in this part of the world. Depending on the growth of our Asian traffic especially with the launch of the newly planned "Asian Cars" category, an Asian located server cluster may also be necessary.
We are moving at a very fast pace and sometimes mistakes regrettably occur. Your feedback is crucial to help guide us and minimize these situations. Please send us an email and let us know how we are doing. What do you think about this latest redesign? Of course we will try to answer every email but please forgive us if we don't.
