Day 2 at Nurburgring

We recently posted some spy photos of the alleged new Honda NSX mule snapped yesterday at Nürburgring, and today, after an arduous day of preparation, Honda engineers have finally hit the race track again.

Seeing this prototype in the light of day reveals proportions consistent with Acura's Advanced Sports Car Concept, which debuted at the '07 North American International Auto show. The S2000-based outer shell used on this mule doesn't exactly correspond to the show car, but it may provide clues as to the direction Honda is traveling with the next NSX.

From these photos we can see the diagonally stacked exhaust tips on this mule, which looks similar to the concept. The mule's large central air-intake in the front bumper fascia also suggests that the production NSX could use a very different styling, when compared to the concept, which had no center grille and only two smaller openings where the fog lamps reside. With the luke warm reception at Detroit, the design transition from concept to production is expected to involve significant styling changes.

The expansive hood on this mule definitely looks large enough to handle a V-8 or V-10 engine as per the concept.
