Infiniti G37 Photos Break Cover Ahead of Embargo

Show time is once again upon us in New York, and the embargo breaking antics have begun. As usual, the culprit is a large print publication, Road and Track, trying to prove their worth in a digital world by exploiting their relationships with car manufacturers, "accidentally" delivered early their May issue to subscribers, therefore, revealing an image of the all new Nissan G37 Coupe ahead of the permitted release date (a.k.a embargo). Privileged R&T's editors (as well as other print mags) were invited by Nissan to sample a pre-production version of the G37 at their Arizona test facility last month. Not to be stood up, R&T's print competitor's followed suit by publishing their G37 test facility materials, while blaming R&T for breaking the embargo. With the BMW 335i as its main target, the all new second generation FM platform G37 Coupe makes major improvements in all areas according to Automobile magazine. But probably the most important aspect is the new VQ37VHR engine which has been bored over from the previous G35 engine of 3.5 liters to 3.7 liters and receives a new valve timing system called VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift). The technology which has 32% faster response, is 20% smaller, and uses 52% less parts per cylinder compared to BMW's VALVETRONIC is accomplished through infinite valve lift and timing. As a result, Infiniti was able to flatten the torque curve which allows for more power (from 275 to 330hp) to be available over a wider range of revs which has been increased to 7500rpm and also reduces emissions. The G37 is longer, wider and shorter, receives beefier suspension, biggest brakes in the segment, four-wheel active steering, re-trimed interior and more aggressive exterior. I am a fan of the previous generation Infiniti sports coupe but I dislike this one. I find that the tailights look awful and there is something about the sides that I can't place. The only part I like is the front, because I think that the grill is spectacular. It's big and powerful and matches the headlights
