Brabus Maybach 57 Sets World Speed Record at Nardo

330.6 km/h, 205.2 mph

Three years ago Brabus took the Maybach 57 into their workshop and tweaked and tuned until they were left with a luxury saloon powered by their 640 hp 6.3 liter (instead of the factory standard 5.5 liter) SV12 bi-turbo engine capable of hitting 314 km/h (195 mph). But there is always room for improvement, and that goes especially for the experts at Brabus.

Cue the Maybach 57 with the Brabus SV12 S bi-turbo engine, this 12 cylinder engine puts 730 horsepower to the road and has managed to break the 200 mph benchmark on the Nardo highspeed test track in Italy. To be exact, the Brabus Maybach 57 managed to reach 330.6 km/h (or 205.2 mph) on the 12.5 km long oval test track.

The SV12 S bi-turbo engine has its displacement increased from 5.5 liters to 6.3 liters and received a special crankshaft with longer stroke, precision-balanced piston rods and larger pistons. Also two larger turbochargers, more efficient intercoolers, special manifolds and high-performance exhaust system were installed. Needless to say that the speed limiter has been disabled, torque has been electronically limited to 1,100 Nm (maximum torque would be 1,320 Nm) and the engine is still EURO IV compliant.

Brabus may have set a new speed record for the ultra-luxury market but have not bested the speed record for street-legal sedans, which still stands at 365.7 km/h (227.2 mph) set by Brabus back in October 2006.

Luxury has not been sacrificed to power and speed judging 15.2 inch screeninstalled in the back of the front seats, lamb-wool floor mats, alcantara interior, W-LAN and UMTS capable computer.

Oscar Wilde would be thrilled by this, if it's that he is only satisfied with the best.

well done boys. Rolls royce no where to be seen. Other guy: "oh but royce royce isn't concerned with speed they focus on luxury". Pal this is this way more luxurious than a rolls royce has ever been.

This is why Rolls Royces are considered to be more traditional and more luxurious than Maybachs. Because they don't focus on speed records which other sedans have already broken (CLS Brabus) (tuned M5s). I never said Rolls Royces were faster than Maybachs so stop making things up to sound smart. And don't pal me.

Yes, but it's getting old, scince five years now it doesn't sell well. It still has the design-language of Mercedes from 5 years, too. For example the white stripes on the backlights, which, slightly modified, now the new s-class from Mercedes wears.

how come it's taken so long for a super-luxury saloon to get this fast? I hope Bentley do that W16 bugatti engined Arnage now to remind everyone who's boss.

hey no need to be so repetitive. I think we all have the brains to figure out that "here, now, today" all mean the same thing.

lol, i think "silveraedanman" is parading around as "hondaboy22". his post sounds exactly like the one silversedanman used in the cadillac escalade sport concept page. he was talking about the porsche cayenne turbo and how its superior and bla bla bla.

Bentley sold themselvs to VW.

Actually no, Bentley did not sell themselves to VW.

Vickers, former owner of the then Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motors sold the company (including the RR part as well) to VW.

However, Rolls-Royce PLC (who make turbine engines for aircraft) own the Rolls-Royce name and leased it to BMW from 2003.

That's why if you own a RR made up until 2002, you get it serviced by Bentley.
