New Skoda Superb Ready for Geneva

The 2008 Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland will be the stage for the world debut of Skoda's second generation flagship model, the Superb. The show opens for the public on March 6 2008 and closes its doors on March 16, the press days will be held in the preceeding days.
Early November Skoda released some prelimenary photos and info of the new Skoda Superb during hot-weather testing in the US. The Skoda Superb will have a 1.8 liter TSI engine at its disposal producing 160 bhp (118 kW) amongst others.

Verdano, you are spot on. thats exactly what i thought. a bmw 5 series lookalike. and we thought the Chinese are not the only ones who rip off others ideas....
BMW has made some ugly cars in recent memory but not this ugly...and a 1.8 liter engine in their flagship model....now that's tragic
What's wrong with the 1.8 TSI being used in this car?
VW's Passat has the 2.0 TFSI motor in it putting out 147kw, so I think it sounds correct for the Skoda to have the 1.8 TSI (which might even be a new motor for the Group) with 118 kw.
The Passat is sold in many countries with the 90kW 1.4-liter TSI. The 125kW version would be even better.
Will wait to see different angles but concept pics I saw some time ago look good. It's also going to be a hatchback which is, in my opinion, always a plus. I really don't see the BMW lookalike thing and I'd buy a Skoda over an overpriced / overhyped BMW anyday. From what I have read, the new 160BHP 1.8TFSI is quite a torqey little number and will propel the Octavia to 62mph in under 9 seconds, so should perform quite well in the new Superb.
This will be sharing the same platform as the Volkswagen Passat. It is always bigger than Passat, same as the predecessor.
Of course there will be 1.8TSI, but there will be also 1.4TSI, 1.9TDI PD and 2.0TDI CR. And absolute best will be 3.6FSI 6V 206Kw(280BHP) so persian187 is all right if he says that kia wouldn't dare, because Kia will never be able to produce cars as good as Skoda.
