Corvette ZR1 Police Car
Imagine cruising in Michigan, going a smidge over the speed limit, when you see through your rear-view mirror a ZR1 with mars lights racing up behind you. If you're anything like us, you would probably need to change your Jockeys after such a sight.
Luckily for us, the Michigan State Police Corvette ZR1 Bob Lutz posted to the GM FastLane Blog earlier today is not exactly a reality. Lutz is the Vice-Chairman at General Motors. We called the Michigan State PD just to be safe, and they assured us that they are not taking possession of any $100,000 cars... no matter how fun it would be to drive.
The 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 has a LS9 supercharged 6.2L V8 engine, getting 620 horsepower and 595 ft-lb of torque. With a race hardened six-speed manual transmission, gigantic brakes, suspension providing more than 1g cornering grip, and a dual-disc clutch, you would have a very difficult time outrunning the 5-0. 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds is nothing to take lightly.
"I think Lutz was just having fun," the police spokesman said.
Although it would be cool to see helicopter video of one of these ZR1 chasing down drug runners and human traffickers coming into Michigan after taking a shipment at the Port of Indiana, for now that type of thing will just have to play out on the big screen.
Y not a Skyline its 30,000$ cheaper and faster and better at everything? The ZR1 is amazing, but again they half assed it and crippled it with a crappy interior. They should have put the interior of the new CTS-V in it or something along those lines.
they compared the skyline to this years corvette not the new one...
The Skyline may have an advantage over the regular Vette, maybe the Z06 (not quite sure), but definitely not over a ZR-1...
Are you sure, i'm pretty sure the new GTR does 0-62 in 3.3 and pulls better G figures. The V-Spec will destroy the ZR-1 and the Nismo version will humiliate this vette. It's nice but not amazing.
The vette is great, and wonderful history it will be around long after the other cars gone.
Only in america. It's history means nothing to the rest of the world, and last time i checked the world outside the USA was bigger than the States.
What kind of comment is that, radmeister? Denying the legendary reputation of the Vette (in the States, in China, in Neptune) would be like denying the legendary reputation of the Mercedes S-Class. Whether you like it or not doesn't change anything at all. Sorry.
You pretend to teach people not to be biased but you're obviously more biased than anyone here. You should open your mind a little more and stop hating so much. Meanwhile, I think it is useless to discuss with such a fanatic person. What a shame.
The S Class is the top of it's category and pioneer in technology and has been for over 40 years...Is the corvette the top in its category of sports cars? No. Is it a technological pioneer? No. It is simply best bang for buck(pre GTR) In europe it simply is no longer best bang for buck because of freight fees and duties and taxes. It is greatest North American car ever made in my opinion. But it simply is not that appealing in europe. You see more Zondas than Corvettes.
Skyline is a very old car....how can you compare it to this new one...try against GTR V-spec...nothing to do vs the Nissan lol Sorry thats the awful truth
The GTR is a Skyline, the Infinity G35 is known as the Skyline in Japan. And the the GTR is the Skyline GTR. Like the in the old days there was Skyline GT, GTR, V-Spec and Nismo.
The R35 is not longer called Skyline... but that isn't important here. guys, are you sure, that you will laught about a cop pursue you with this beast? Not every fast criminal is driven a car faster then tis, and not every criminal is able to drive, what the car is given then. Other then I think, it's more a showeffect and advertising for Michigan State PD and GM

.....a vet wheight like moon or just an european car, those things have very good wheight distribution, a BMW for example
...it doesnt matter how much hp you have....its about wheight
