Last week we had reported that Volvo will be revealing the production version of its XC60 SUV at Geneva next month. Subsequently, rumours were going around that Volvo will be releasing the official images and press release of the SUV on February 20th, but it appears that the images are already spreading faster than anything through the Internet four days before the intended date.

The Volvo XC60 Concept was first shown at the 2007 Detroit Motor Show, and in the past months we have caught various test mules around which provided us a good preview of the production version. Today, the leaked images reveal that Volvo is keeping the SUV as close as possible to the concept, except for some missing curves on the side profile. No technical details were found anywhere, but this BMW X3-rival is planned to hit showrooms during the second half of 2008.

the interior air-con controls looks like a person who's fat and pregnant.

This car could share the platform and drivetrain with Land Rover's Freelander. The LRX will do the same, then these 3cars are sisters, aren't they??

Ya good point, but another question is is that a good platform?

It's the best for a light SUV, along with the Tiguan. Handles like compact sedan.

he probably meant to say conservative/slow

by ck314 | February 17, 2008 9:47 PM
yes, but this volvo doesnt looks 'conservative' , i guess

by fr3dy | February 17, 2008 10:24 PM
It is, by Volvo standards. It isn't more revolutionary than was the XC90 at launch.

I have always liked the look of the concept. Unfortunately they have stuck to their standard dash design that is too busy looking for my liking. Whenever I sit in a Volvo I always look at the dash and imagine myself running someone over as I try to find the button I want! Glad to see they have tried to stick close to the concept when finalizing the exterior. Looks better than the XC90 in my opinion. Very sharp!

I think the front looks a little too soft, though I like it overall. Good one about the HVAC looking like a heavy person, I always thought it looked like a GloWorm from the 80's. About the interior, they have never seemed complex to me, BMW, Audi, and others have always had way too many buttons, Volvo started simplfying when they added the GloWorm graphic. Overall, this might prove a good step away from the too-heavy XC90, with a sleeker profile too.

(real)Preppies, people who dont buy a car just because of its emblem, but the way its built. So basicly, not you :) lol

by wjaprep | February 18, 2008 11:19 PM
The design looks beautiful, much better than any other volvo. I want to see more innovation though.

Another car for the preppies, lol. Anyway, I like it, more exciting than the XC90 but still very Volvo looking. I almost like the inside to, not so sure about tht navi screen location though. At least it looks like a Volvo inside and out unlike some other new cars by other makes *cough* Jaguar XF *cough*
