It is a pity Ford’s first video on the new 2009 Ford Fiesta only shows the car in a static position, but it is a way to get to know the new hot hatch as well. In the footage, a song in the back says “I want you to love me all the time”, what, according to the reactions to the new vehicle, will be something easy for Ford to achieve with its customers.

Besides the details of the Fiesta, such as headlights and taillights in the same studio were its first official pictures have been taken, the video also presents the interior of the car in a more dynamic way. This seems to be one of the aspects of the hatch that will drive most of the Geneva Motor Show visitors’ attentions.

Ford has not informed which engines the new Fiesta will use when it goes on sale nor when sales will start, but a good guess would be on the current petrol engines, which range from the 1.25-litre four-cylinder Duratec, that delivers 75 cv, to the 2-litre four-cylinder Duratec that generates 150 cv. There are also two diesel ones, a 1.4-litre (68 cv) and a 1.6-litre (90 cv).

Named as the B299 project, the new Fiesta was expected to be produced in Brazil, but, according to Agencia AutoData, the project has been cancelled. Production, therefore, would be restricted to Mexico, India and Europe. Even though the production may be concentrated in few countries, the car is expected to be sold all over the world. Since Brazil has an automotive free trade agreement with Mexico, the car may come from there to the Brazilian market.

finally Ford is regaining distinctive style after the last Focus and Fiesta- serious contenders for worlds dullest looking car. The interior is especially impressive and bold.
