Oh Geneva my love, will you ever stop? Look at how Mitsubishi will make history on your turf in just a couple of weeks. Seems that hatchback Lancer, last seen in Prototype-S form, will be revealed as a staple for Geneva consumption. We have the first official internet-leaked images of what’s to come, and boy Subaru Impreza had better take note.

Likely to be referred to as a Sportback, the Lancer goes into market with a 180kW/ 241 bhp and 343Nm 2.0-litre engine, same as the Evo X’s but weakened to rival the likes of Focus ST, Mazda3 MPS and Astra OPC. The more direct rival of course is the Impreza WRX.

The combination of its 4WD system, as well as the SST twin clutch gearbox should make this a dragster of note in this class of car.

should have left the evo engine with the same power

Makes more sense than the watered-down Evo X. Front daylight leds look great.

by ck314 | February 24, 2008 5:57 PM
the evo is not watered down... if u see all the reviews the evo give more thrills w. less power and at the same times feels much poise and fast!... as if the striped down more powerful Hatch comes well who am i to complain and just think if they did the FQ model w. this car...hell yeah!!

All of them?? "We, at NihonCar, are huge fans of the Evo 9 and Impreza RA-R, and this is why we have been very disappointed by those two new generations which seem to slip down the hill to feel more and more like a Lexus minus the real interior comfort. If we had to choose, we'd pick the Evo X because the handling and style are better. I could only recommend the fans to stick to their Evo 9 or WRX STi 2006 until Ralliart or Subaru prepares something really worth it (2008 RA-R??). Maybe the major tuners (Mine's, Top Secret, HKS...) will show them the way, but don't get us wrong, those are good family cars offering sweet sensations... just not what we expected really."

rear end UGLY

by nickkop | February 24, 2008 6:01 PM
look like the girly mazda 3 ... anyway that 80s nose its still good looking as the galant gto but I like it more sedan.

by _M7_ | February 24, 2008 7:02 PM
awe... why can't they drop the eclipse, and make a 2 door version of this car?

by Joe_Limon | February 24, 2008 8:56 PM
from the rear, it's similar to the Alfa Romeo Brera...

by Stibiii | February 24, 2008 9:53 PM
The tail looked better in concept form, now it seems too soft, as though they just could not figure out how to unite the profile with the tail. The way the chrome window strip ends at the rear door, with no visual connection to the hathc leaves me wanting more. IMO the Subaru hatch looks much better, more along the lines of the great Alfa GTV6's of the 80s, while this Evo a bit like the late 70s Toyota Corolla hatchback. Close, but not quite.

Tail too soft?? It's almost more agressive than the front end, almost intimidating.

by ck314 | February 25, 2008 12:46 AM
Rear half is way too long for normal "Hot Hatch"... Comparing to the regular version, this car doesn't make very sense... what's the advantage?

by MAXLD | February 25, 2008 12:41 AM
Front with an upside down Audi grill and rear of an Alfa

by kevoluetion | February 25, 2008 8:26 AM
nice cars

I'm not a fan of hatches, but this looks reaaally good, I must say.

by Lekz | February 25, 2008 5:25 PM
It looks the part

by moviestar | March 11, 2008 8:16 PM
the front like like it's angry and tired. A frown and a big gaping mouth. And it seems from the pix to be unrelated to the rear. Let's see it in the flesh.

Alfafox, u must be smoking something. The new impreza is a mistake, it will sell nonetheless because Subaru's selling point has never been good looks. This Mitsubishi looks SO much better! I love it! It excites me knowing that a manufacturer that really knows how to pull the power out a 2.0 engine has decided to school the present hot hatch foray...
