As we have already brought to you, Mini has exceed all its competitors efforts to produce a trendy and fast machine with John Cooper Works versions of Mini and Clubman. Fiat must have been really frustrated to see that the limelights it expected to have on its Abarth version of the 500 were driven in another direction. Nevertheless, the small Italian car will have its place on the market and many will think of it as an exciting little car, with its 135 cv engine.

No surprises were left for the official presentation of the car in Geneva. It was exactly as previous press releases stated it was: powered by a Fire 1.4 16v petrol turbo engine that delivers, besides the 135 cv, a peak torque of 206 Nm and very mean appearance that simply asks for more horsepowers, with huge wheel arches to house equally big wheels and low tires, wider air intakes, a rear air diffuser, double exhaust pipes, red caps for the external rear mirrors and dozens of Abarth badges all over the car.

Although Fiat could have given us more on this Abarth version, there will be an Abarth SS model of the 500, which is expected to have 180 cv (at least). Let’s hope to get all of them.

Truly is the gay car of the year. I can't say i like anything about this car other than the girls beside it, slow, expensive, i thought italians were supposed to have a sense of style, the entire car is friggen round and then they put a BIG flat part in the front. The car looks like it hit a wall.

Looks great, but I agree that 180bhp would be appropriate with the SS.

@ radmeister I guess the shape is meant to mimick the old car...? If the car is gay, it's no wonder I like it.. it has taken that crown away from the Twingo :)

I like the basic versions way better, aesthetically that is.
