New Toyota Supra Renderings

Toyota has 350Z clear in its sights

BestCar magazine has provided a rendering of what may become the 2010 version of Toyota’s Supra. Three years ago a Japanese Toyota executive working on foreign assignment confirmed to us that indeed Toyota had investigated the Nissan 350Z thoroughly and decided it was time to offer a Toyota alternative. What is currently unknown is whether this alternative is the Supra itself or the next Celica, though Celica would be more than likely since Toyota probably does not want to canibalise potential buyers of the new Lexus LF-A.

Likely to be powered by one or three engines, 3.7 V6, a smaller turbo (courtesy of new Toyota-Subaru alliance) and a hybrid, the Supra/ Celica rendered here has been numbered at between 350 and 400 bhp (260kW – 298kW). This would make sense since the LF-A is a 500 bhp machine. Now, if only they would make the darn thing and stop showing us all its concepts! Meanwhile, how about turning that Toyota FT-HS into this Supra/ Celica thing?

Looks to me they looked more at the R35 rather than the 350Z

Don't like it thought, personally the Lexus concept LF looks far more impressive as the successor for the supra

It surely won't look like that. That would look outdated if it had hit the market 5 years ago. It will look positively ancient by 2010.

Am I wrong or does it sport the FT-HS wheels?

I always thought the Supra was so good-looking because it was a bit ahead, design-wise. The clear glass looks of its rear lights were so-not-mid-90's.

Mash FT-HS and LF-A up to get something interesting, this wouldn't even count for a Celica successor if you don't mind my opinion.

And is has this weird touch of a Charger rear end. Urgh. It's still a Jap. car. With .5 Jag XF headlights. Argh.

Its not bad, Those headlights look akward(ugly).. The front grille should be sportier IMO. They just too the grille off the Corolla, and thats not a good sign. The back has an american muscle look to it, its decent but it could be better.

i am not with you guys...it looks beautiful, love the roof line and the bulging rear fender. I hope it will be the supra not the celica, who gives a s*it about celica, supra is going to be the best answer for toyota in the world of sport car. Will it be the GT-R contender ? make it !!

by phobos | March 14, 2008 3:22 PM
the supra started life as a celica you know...

Looks to have R35 resemblance and a bit of the 350Z. But I prefer the Lexus IF Better as the new supra

by dmanero | March 14, 2008 4:07 PM
I agree...the Lexus IF should be the new Supra and go after the GT-R, and this should either be the new Celica or Carolla coupe, and go after the Z

wow Toyota is yanking our chains, how long is it gonna take before they bring out a Toyota branded sports car again?

by Joe_Limon | March 14, 2008 5:29 PM
@NISMO: I agree with you...

by swifthead | March 14, 2008 7:35 PM
Ughh....I can't believe they would come up with this after the FT-HS.

by saint_dracula | March 14, 2008 10:59 PM
hah they wont, this rendering is pure fantasy.. toyota OUGHT TO make the ft-hs into production, be it hybrid or not, one of the sexiest concepts ever

by ck314 | March 15, 2008 12:01 AM
Side windows looks like GTR jajaja Nissan its the best "power" japanese car, toyota its the first car company in the worl and they cant reach GTR car level yet .... pff

by _M7_ | March 15, 2008 3:11 AM
yeah...it does look like a r35, with and air of eclipse.. and other "inspirations". still, brings tears to my eyes to see the word SUPRA near TOYOTA, again. build the damn thing !!

by norther | March 15, 2008 3:27 AM
so boring....

by The_woo_factor | March 15, 2008 11:24 AM
If it weren't soulless Toyota I wouldn't believe it could look like this rendering when it hits the market. It will have horrible ergonomics, you will have to duck to see anything but roof and visors, it will be slightly more reliable than its competition, and it will be a best seller.

by azeemkhan1999 | March 16, 2008 10:21 AM
THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH TOYOTA EVERY TIME IT CREATE A SUPRA !!!

LOOKS BAD & NOT COMPETETIVE.

by turkiq | March 16, 2008 1:12 PM
i think it looks more like aston martin DBS

by Volk | March 16, 2008 3:04 PM
will cressida revive with supra again as a sedan with same engine options

by azeemkhan1999 | March 18, 2008 11:06 AM
Ummmm, how stupid can you be?, that is the FT-HS! It's more like a blend of the Supra and FT-HS, but basically it is such.

You can expect it to be a hybrid, i'd say. the design looks great to me, just needs a little more reworking on the front fender and rear lights cluster, and it would be awesome!
