Global sports sedan prelude

It all started with the Suzuki Kizashi Concept at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, followed by the Kizashi 2 Concept at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show and now the series reaches its next phase with the Kizashi 3 Concept at the 2008 New York International Motor Show. Suzuki is well on its way to produce a sports sedan based on this very concept car.

By 2010 Suzuki hopes to start selling their sport sedan in North America, even though Suzuki calls it a global car it is very much aimed at building their image in North America. Kizashi means prelude in Japanese, so it is safe to say that the sport sedan will go by a yet unknown name. The new Suzuki flagship will be built in Suzuki's brand new Sagara plant in Japan.

Suzuki is planning to power its new flagship sport sedan with a 3.6 liter DOHC V6 engine with plated cylinders delivering up to 300 hp. The plated cylinders save both weight and space, and has directly evolved from Suzuki's motorcycle business and WRC development teams.

wow what a copy! There was an article about design trends in the car industry in the german newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine this month that was raising the question how much the car design studios are like a copy shop business. of course there are also the millions of government restrictions that make cars look a like, but the front of the suzuki could be a VW or an Audi or with some twink of the eye a BMW ...its that blunt of put together copy. (wait - did I just say VW is copying BMW?)

disappointing!

this looks nothing like anything you mentioned aside from 4 wheels and doors. if anything it looks lexus-ish from the front but still unique IMO. it looks Japanese not German. I like it.

Sorry man its looks like Suzuki not bmw or Audi! Its totally looks great specially its rear and its rear fender unlike other Japanese brand.

The overall design is great. I love the chopped windows and high shoulder line. However, the grille apes VW/Audi way too much to give Suzuki designers the credit that should be due! This is madness.

This is surprising for a Suzuki. I actually really like it, but looks a tad bit like the Jaguar XF.

This is the third and probably the most tame looking of the three, I don't like the rear but the front end is really cool!

Oh yea of course. Both of them are silver. what a great influence..

I hope you are smart enough to figure out that that was sarcasm. And I assure you that the insignia does look pretty crappy compared to this.

I LOVE IT! Suzuki is trying to build their image in North America and this is just the vehicle to help with that. Now if they put as much performance in this car as they do in their bikes then it will be a winner.Low price, High performance, that should win over a few customers here in the states

THIS IS SOOOOO COPIED... headlights from BMW 3 series, grille from Audi, chrome wheels from Lexus. This thing's bonnet resembles a toilet lid.

have you ever seen a 3 series? these headlights are not the same, and the grille - honestly. the Germans need to produce some mid line cars that look this good.

Audis all look alike and they're also German.

benz_man
March 22, 2008 5:44:35 PM

Audis are supposed to look alike, ITS THE SAME BRANDS PRODUCTS. However, other manufacturers should not intentianally copy a successfull design theme. Copying of technical themes is only expected, but design? Thats what brand indentity is for. So your brand can have its "OWN IDENTITY"! Have you ever seen a modern Audi?

So, the double kidneys don't make a Bimmer a Bimmer? And the Spirit of Ecstasy flying on a center mounted, highly polished, vertically slatted "washboard" don't make a Roller a Roller? "Not to acknowledge it doesn't mean its not true. That...just means you're ignorant." -Eisenhower

March 25, 2008 4:16:23 AM

What are u talking about? Ofcourse those things make up those vehicles....what has this car got thats original and can be used as an identity? Something that makes people see it and think that has to be a suzuki? Im not saying the design is bad, but not very original.

blabla
March 24, 2008 12:38:01 PM

audis are ugly.

kevoluetion
March 25, 2008 4:13:57 AM

If Audi is ugly, this is double the ugliness

blabla
March 25, 2008 4:20:51 PM

Audis don't have an identity they are just boring VW's.
