Corvette C6 Competition edition

Exclusive 'vette power for Europe

As from April a new cyclone is up for sale at the nearest European Corvette dealer. The Corvette Competition, which pays loose homage to the C6 race car, will be in full show for those wanting something a little out of the ordinary. Further, very few extras are available so as to limit the vehicle’s mass. Hoisting its 19-inch wheels (18-inch at the front) forward is that 6.2-litre V8 engine that sits in quite well with a 6-speed gearbox. Thus the rear spoiler, which has been lent by the Z06, came into play to stop Corvette from becoming a flying machine. The five double-spoke alloys are coloured Competition grey.

Similarities with the race car are the honeycomb air scoops on the grille as well as those between the mean pipes at the rear. Of course such special editions don’t come mass-produced, so this will also be available only in limited numbers. Strangely the car is meant to celebrate the start of the American Le Mans Series, yet Europe is getting it.

I love this Vette. Looks like they upgraded the materials for the interior.

Hmm i did not know they had a Targa C6 out, all we have here is the hardtop and convertible. Perhaps that was the only thing mentioning that this article did not mention. The interior still looks too cheap for its price, what is up with that stitched leather that goes around the center console that is made out of plastic...IF YOU CANNOT PUT LEATHER THERE DON'T PUT IT! All that cheap plastic still kills this car for me, the radio and the climate controls are all of the cheapest plastic quality, the little aluminum cap with the transmission gears on the shifter is made again out of plastic. I much rather buy the GT-R, it is faster, more practical, and the interior looks and feels ace. Nissan aluminum and leather do not feel the same to each other because they are different materials not like for gm where they are all the same..PLASTIC.

Yet it still looks nicer then an amg.

Maybe you haven't noticed that the dash is Carbon Fiber.

For real? An AMG? The difference in material quality between any Corvette (less so the new "full leather" option) and Mercedes-Benz AMG model is vast.

I'm usually very positive on Vettes, but this is just stupid...some limited edition for Europe...The "for Europe" part is because the gray wheels are an option on all corvettes in the states, and if that exhaust is the dual-mode exhaust, it is also an option on all corvettes in the states...as for the Z06 spoiler, pretty sure there aren't many reports of Vettes without it "flying" away

Radmeister you are the biggest dickhead on WCF you base your comments on the badge on the front of a car. We all know if these interior pics were of a GT-R you would be saying how fantastic they look.

I think he is trying to be a critic. By criticizing everything he sees, he feels that his positive comments stand out stronger. Which they do, it's just that when he does it, he sounds extremely biased.

Radmeister is actually right by pointing out the cheap and old looking dashboard made of cheap material. It is a Vette we are talking about, for God's sake...A Vette killed by its makers! Is it that hard to make it have a classy and sporty looking interior?

I like the interior, it looks less plasticy then the r8

Common, an Audi? Seriously? This is a Vette we're all talking about. Really, you should go test-drive the two...

The interior really isn't that bad...the dash is not made of the cheap hard plastic...the only cheap bits are the radio, climate controls, and gray pieces on the steering wheel

Ahaha still nobody noticed it is a targa? And what's wrong with pointing out the little things that could have made the interior of this car a complete beauty. I only have problems with these little things that perhaps would have cost 100$ from the manufacturing point to make better. Real aluminum accents are cheap and there are only 3 pieces, the shifter and the 2 things on the steering wheel, they could have removed that plastic stitched leather band around the console entirely, and the radio and climate control consoles could have been made out of a slightly more dense plastic. It's not a big deal the car is still good bang for buck, but these small changes have a drastic effect on the look and feel of the interior.

The Corvette is a beautiful car, its lines and shape strongly reminescent of the recent Ferrari. The cheap looking interior is a turnoff for me, although we can't expect the highest quality interiors in these performance cars in addition to the fact that the base Corvette starts at less than $50,000.
