New Details for Next Mclaren Emerge
Next year sees the end of production of the Mclaren SLR and also signals the end of the the collaboration between Mercedes and Mclaren as each will create their own successor. We have already seen Mercedes testing its protoypes which is said to be labelled as the SLC, but Mclaren have been a little more secretive.
The Mclaren project codenamed P11 will reportedly hit showrooms in March 2010 as a coupe – that's less than 2 years away meaning we are likely to see its unveiling in a little over a year, a spider version should follow a year later. The new mid-engined car will directly compete with the Ferrari F430 although the McLaren will be lighter and more compact. Power is said to come courtesy of a 550bhp V8 engine which sources at autocar say it will be built by Mahle in Northamptonshire, England. The engine is likely to be based on an the existing Mercedes unit.
The P11 project will then provide the base for a more hardcore version which will be a successor to the legendary Mclaren F1 supercar, codenamed P12. According to leaked documents power will come from a 600bhp V10 engine.
rather, the audi r8 looks like the old mclaren, and this has the essence of the old mclaren of course...

you wouldnt buy a mclaren? yikes mate, this'll wipe the floor with anything ferrari, porsche, audi or anyone else can throw at it! the 3 cars built by the mclaren engineers were the F1, SLR and Caparo T1 - quite a good track record, really. besides, this is just a photoshop so it probs wont look anything like this - nobody has any real idea what itl look like...
It's a photoshopped image ffs.....Look at the rims, they're taken from the Audi Le Mans Concept. Take a look for urselves.

WCF...before actually posting such an image..should you not do some of your own research first...to check whether it is a true image of a future car or whether it has been photoshopped? It only took me a couple of seconds to realise that it is in fact an R8..

Agreed stillthewhizz, WCF needs to not try and force images up. We all no there are people who don't read the actual articles (can tell by the comments) and just look at the pictures. Don't make them guess and don't put up crappy renderings any more...
The Mclaren is bound to be good, however there are a lot of cars in that league unlike when it enter the F1. The F1 was enter in a catagory with few
if there are people who can't be bothered to read the articles, then thats their problem. they deserve to end up misinformed (note: none of this applies to people who do not have english as their first language...if they dont understand the text, then obviously thers not much they can do). As the author of te piece said, if ther are no actual photos of the thing, then a redering will have to do. its better than having a blank spot with the words "no photo available" on it.

I really see an evolution of the old F1...R8 its just a little toy for rookies to talk. Im not saying tah magneride type its bad but for me its not a super car as the GTr its a super car killer jeje Now a 600hp V10...are they thinking on the BMW P80? that will be the best choice or mabie the GTR engine XD its not bad either cause mercedes engine are bad as they handling jaja anyway Im really sad because nobody its talking about cars as RUF CTR3 whit 700hp real power cars inseatd some american cra* as ZR1
Mercedes engines are bad handling? what about the SLR on some occasions it has posted better laptimes than a 599 GTB. And the ZR1 isnt crap, its the fastest Corvette ever built not to mention most technically sophisticated. You might not like american cars, but calling them crap is just ignorance.

From what i hear the engine in use will be a Mercedes V8, so the partnership will remain intact to a degree.
without fail, a person will eventually say "omg, it looks like an audi r8"
