Seat has yesterday revealed the third model in their ECOMOTIVE range, the Seat Alhambra MPV. The Spanish people mover is powered by a 140 hp 2.0 TDI engine with Diesel Particular Filter (DPF) and emits just 159 g/km of CO2, compared to the 175 g/km CO2 emissions of the regular 2.0 TDI Alhambra.
Seat has made a few changes in order for the Alhambra to achieve these figures, firstly the DPF and the electronic management but also a new six-speed transmission and low-friction 196/60 tires on 16 inch steel rims.
Performance has not suffered because of the environmentally conscious changes, instead the diesel powered MPV is quicker of the mark to reach 100 km/h then its non EcoMotive sibling, 11.9 seconds and 12.2 seconds respectively, and comes standard with a sport suspension.

The SEAT Alhambra has made its way into SEAT's ecological model range with its new ECOMOTIVE version. As with the Ibiza and León models, this one features characteristically low CO2 emissions and fuel consumption levels, making the Spanish car manufacturer one of the most committed to environmental sustainability.
As a result of its reduced emission figures, the new Alhambra ECOMOTIVE passes on a cost savings to its customers by falling into the 4.75% registration tax bracket.
This is the first model in its segment to feature CO2 emission levels of 159 g/km, thanks to its efficient 140 hp 2.0 TDI engine, which has undergone minute modifications to its electronic management. Its efficient 6-speed gearbox features longer gear ratios, especially fourth and fifth, which also contributes to lowering the former figure of 175 g/km.
The average fuel consumption figures of the Alhambra ECOMOTIVE equal only 6 litres per 100 km (6.6 on the former version), while consumption in the urban and extra-urban cycles is now 7.8 and 4.9 l/100 km respectively.
SEAT's new car also includes the DPF particulate filter as standard. When diesel engine soot particles are not filtered they remain suspended in the air and attract other harmful elements. Diesel engine emissions contain about 0.3% of toxic gases such as carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, sulphur dioxide and nitric oxide as well as soot.
Another outstanding feature is the addition of low friction 196/60 tyres on 16 inch steel rims.
With a torque figure of 310 Nm at 1750 rpm, the performance of the 2.0 TDI engine is excellent. The SEAT Alhambra ECOMOTIVE delivers a top speed of 195 km/h and excellent in-gear acceleration, and its dynamic qualities and 0 to 100 km/h acceleration have also improved. On the previous version, this figure was 12.2 seconds; now it has fallen to 11.9 seconds.
The SEAT Technical Centre in Martorell has included sports suspension in the list of standard equipment on the Alhambra ECOMOTIVE. Now the brand's monospace car also stands out for its efficient, sporty character.
The brand's new car will be available in the Reference Plus trim level, with a top-notch standard equipment level.
are they going to build this car together with the VW until the end of the world? It is already something like 13 years old platform after one facelift 7 or 8 years ago? Very outdated. Look at the Ford and it's Galaxy!!
