Wit the Ferrari California revealing just a few weeks ago, new photographs with roof closed have been released today. Wearing Azzurro California livery, which was the color chosen for the legendary 1960s spider’s appearance at the New York Auto Show in 1962, the dual-purpose Spider/Coupé has a retractable hard top that closes in just 14 seconds. The new direct injection 4.3-Liter V8 engine making 460 horsepower accelerates the 2+ coupe convertible to 100km/h in under 4 seconds. For the first time in a Ferrari, the California receives a new 7-speed dual clutch transmission for a gear shifting time of zero.

Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo recently had some quality time behind the wheel of the California at the Fiorano circuit and stated, ““The California is an extraordinary car and I was delighted with the performance, comfort and driving pleasure it delivered. The California is, like all of our models, the epitome of cutting-edge innovation. Its gearbox, suspensions and chassis are the most advanced possible.”

Unfortunately the public will have to wait until the car is revealed in the flesh at Paris this September.

looks better with the top on, and this colour suits it better. the hood scoop still looks ridiculous tho

it seems that the roof needs a lot of space - and that's why california is fitted with superposed exhaust pipes. it's an accomodation to the package.

aha retractable hardtop.. which explains the bulky rear.. with a soft top it would have looked sleeker, but with the top on and displaying a lighter hue its true it looks much better, but why those bland wheels? hopefully there are other designs under request @ scaglietti

Gotta admit, with the roof on,in this color and from these angles it looks alright. But the scoop is still too much and I´m not sure about the line going along the side..It´s a bit too strong.Still,Lamborghini rules, who would prefer this to a Gallardo Spyder?

I dunno, I like lambo's. But the Gallardo will always be the red headed step child of the Lamborghini family. This car I figure will be the baby of the Ferrari family, always striving for attention.

The front scoop looks upside down if they had the curve at the top and flat at the bottom of the scoop?

This car is amazingly groundbreaking - it is the first Ferrari ever to challenge the notion that "boring Ferrari" is an oxymoron. Even the 612 Scaglietti is classier than this; it's not as overstyled. What on earth is with the body surfacing? This is the Porsche Boxster of Ferraris - the poseur who doesn't care about class will revere this car. This has nothing on the 599GTB, the F430 or even the 355. A poor rehash of the 575M.

I would rather get the Maserati Grand Turismo or w/e the new one is called, they look almost identical and its half the price.

to me jus seems to be an anonymous design from ferrari. the side seems to borrow a lot from the older 550 maranello. ill def go for the lp560.
