The moment Corvette fans all over the world are waiting for is coming nearer and nearer, soon enough the first Corvette ZR1 will roll off the production line and hopefully into the garage of someone who will put the super car through its paces on the track.

But before that time comes, the car must first actually go into production and we now have video proof that the General is really building the fastest Corvette ever. The 638 hp LS9 engine is capable of hurling the ZR1 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds while it takes only 7.0 seconds to hit 160 km/h from stand-still.

“The ZR1 is an incredible machine by any measure,” said Ed Peper, vice president at Corvette. “There’s simply no other vehicle in the world that does a better job of balancing performance, price and fuel economy.” But for now, the Nissan GT-R has the ZR1 beat on the Nurburgring.

Pricing and market launch are expected to take place this autumn in Europe.
