Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 Facelift Spy Photos
On the market since 2005, the brutally quick 420hp Cherokee SRT8 was caught by spy photographers. Wearing some camouflage on the front end which is most likely hiding some mild changes to the grille and front bumper fascia, the pictures also show the SRT8 pulling a trailer. Currently, the Cherokee SRT8 is not available with a tow package, especially with its centrally mounted exhaust pipes positioned right where the ball hitch would be located.
Although the circumstances, outside of defensive engineers and the camouflage, made it very difficult for the spy photographers to take pictures, they managed to get a blurry shot of the rear which shows a make-shift trapezoidal exhaust pipe integrated into the right side of the rear bumper fascia.
Although several updates to the 2009 Grand Cherokee have already been made public, there is little info floating throught the grapevine about the changes seen here. Perhaps we could see an unveiling this fall or midway through the model year.
Since the GC just got a mild facelift on the the standard and SRT8 models for 2008 I'm guessing this is a running change that will receive the 6.4L SRT8 engine set to debut in the spring of 2009 on the Challenger (an early '10 model). The 300 and Charger should be getting it too if the GC is, although I dont see why they just dont wait til the replacement models arrive in 2010. Pushing back the new model intro, perhaps?
ooohhh, i bet this has appropriate fuel economy for our times... probably even reaches double figure fuel economy if you stay below 20mph
I don't understand why they loose time on the Srt-8, which won't sell a lot due to high gas prices...when they should try to keep the diesel GC in the line-up...I'm working in a Canadian Dealership and we had a call today from our DSM telling us that due to new regulations in Canada and U.S, there will be NO diesel GC for 2009 (in Canada, only few 2008½...Someone else heard about that?
My point exactly, who the hell needs a car like this?
It looks like a brick, it leans like a fat man on a McDonalds counter, and it probably uses enough fuel to heat an entire city block during December.
This is pure American gluttony.

That was poetry! And very true.
But who's going to buy this thing? Maybe 6-7 years ago, maybe, but now?
the grand cherokee needs a re design not a face lift! nd the interior needs some REAL upgrades
the front seems to be based on the Trailhawk concept. It may look good but the crapy interior will ruin it anyway. Not to mention the pointless engine. Just try to make a powerful diesel, this is the only way to sell a car like this.
This is the only American car besides the Corvette that I would own. It can truly be appreciated for its aggressive body kit and sheer power and speed..It's actually faster than the ML 63.
The GC SRT8 beat both the ML63 and the Cayenne Turbo to 60, beating out the ML just barely, but after that it gets walked pretty hard. The ML63 is still the fastest SUV in the world to 100 and beyond.
The SRT8 is quick to 60mph, then the ML63 passes it every time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Md-agGEj5zA&NR=1
sorry didn't have my facts straight there. I think i mean the cayenne Turbo..It was one of those German SUVs that this car beat on a 0-60 run
it's still huge... what is the world coming to?

Looks like an r8
