Rendered Speculation: Cobra Venom

The AC/Shelby Cobra was born in the 1960s combining American engineering with British finesse. It all started when Surrey based British sportscar company AC created the Ace roadster which made a small production run before it was rumoured the company went to the very edge of bankruptcy. That is when Carroll Shelby came along and asked the British firm to modify the chassis to accept a V8 and thus the AC Cobra was born providing some competition for the Chevy Corvette.

A small production run and a successful racing career followed, but this was not enough for the AC Cobra to last as the model proved to be a financial failure and ultimately ended when Carroll Shelby discontinued the relationship.

Could we see a revival of the legendary roadster? Designer Jamie Martin would like to think so with a group of very nice renderings of the AC Cobra's spiritual successor – the Cobra Venom V8. Jamie envisions a model focused on driver responsiveness powered by a Ford V8 Block capable of propelling the Venom from 0-62mph in just 3.4 seconds and reaching a maximum speed of 214mph.

Who are we to argue with a vision like this?

THIS IS A BMW Z8 ALL CHOPPED UP. NICE JOB BUT TO BASE AN AMERICAN ICON ON A BMW IS A DISCRACE

One word to describe those headlights: Yuck! This concept needs a better face. I mean it's 2008 and this is the best they can do? I think the legendary name itself deserves better; nothing looks balanced about the car. I know it's only a concept, but I still get the impression that this design was thrown together over night, without any real thought given to it's linage. The Series 1 was a beautiful design, imo, but had the cheapest looking interior that I've ever seen in a 100k plus car. But this thing looks like something fresh off a Korean car company's drawing board (I like foreign cars, btw, just nothing Korean). I wouldn't feel this way if it was just another concept but were're talking the legendary AC Cobra here, and so far, they've fail with this one. Jmho.

I'm liable to all sorts of insult for suggesting this, but it reminds me, in an obscure way, of the BMW Z8....?

Hummm, i seem to remember Ford thought about 'reviving' it... strange seeing as, though shelby were no longer involved, the Cobra has been made continuously ever since, and still is, by AC. it never actually went away, so why all this talk of reviving it?

I like it, it looks like a Snake and thsi car would be an essentially all new model for Shelby. Owing nothing beyond slight family resemblanes to older shelbys'. Other than that it can look as different as it wants. Bear in mind also, that this is just a 2d sketch so the production will be somewhat different(nicer/more aggressive looking). Do It.
