700hp Lightning GT Electric Car Confirmed for British Motor Show
It has been a few months since we first got our first glimpse of the Lightning GT from few officially released renderings of the model, now we can confirm the 700 horsepower electric sportscar will be have it full unveiling at this month's British Motor Show. Our first opportunity to see it in the flesh and of course see how the model compares with EV rivals such as the Fisker Karma and Tesla Roadster.
The 700bhp Lightning Gt is powered by four 120kw power Permanent Magnet brushless motors, which can be harged in as little as 10 minutes. The great advantages of the electric technology can be seen in the acceleration figures with a 0-60mph of 4 seconds, achievable because the electric motor is able to pass the full thrust of the torque to the wheels from standstill giving the model a great advantage over gas powered sportcars which require the vehicle to build up the rev count first.
so is it completly electric? no petrol engine at all? if it is then its brilliant, it looks like a million dollars, has 700hp gets to 60 in the same time it takes a ferrari and you dont spend a fortune at the filling pumps, and its not like with the old electric cars that you had to charge for a week to drive for 5 miles, if its as good as they say it is... than those three cars should be the most popular cars ever, i mean come on, they have the preformance and looks of a super car and are cheaper to run than ford fiesta!
Congrats! Big step closer to Perpetuum Mobile.
I thought the age of nice cars would die along with the combustion engine. Guess not.
Now, thats what all fancy car makers must be focused on instead of making SLs, CLSs, M powered X10s, Hummers, 10 something liter giantic engines etc etc. 4 X 120Kw Permanent magnet brushless huh? Sounds fascinating...This is what I call a concept car towards future, not the stupid ones which all look like the same with big and chromed wheels fancy LED headlites...
Fascinating... yes! A near future alternative to gas/petroleum powered vehicles? No! Why? Because they'll have to figure out some way to price gouge you first. Second, one important thing was left out: range. I realize that this was just a heads-up but I sure would like to know more details about it's technology and application. Sounds very innovative though. Not bad looking either!
It is so sad that Americans could never design smething like this. Oh have the mighty have fallen.
I'm no fan of the Americans, but one thing they're not is unimaginative. Moreover, one thing this car isn't is original. It is textbook sports coupe, and, quite frankly, not a terribly creative one.
very interesting and looks pleasent on the eye too!! win win depending on the production cost?
Nice, looks like a mixture of AM, Jag and the Saab 9-x concept
This can be charged in 10 minutes, hm? That's a lie. The technology simply doesn't exist. Moreover, four 120kW motors would require staggering amounts of energy to operate, translating into huge battery stores. Again, the technology simply doesn't exist to make this car feasible. Lastly, and most importantly, if you are intending to initiate an automotive revolution -- like, say, popularizing EVs --, why not outline a distinct style language? Something that capitalizes on the architectural advantages of EV technology? The association of the technology to a design is the most important part of exacting change in an entity as large and unwavering as the automotive industry. This car is bound for failure because -- besides the technology not existing -- it will not appeal to us on any level. Can you imagine a supercar with a CVT? Will you buy a sports car that doesn't make a sound? Can you commit to plugging your car in for half a day, as will be necessary to charge up its energy stores? This car is unimaginative and obviously fictional; a resounding failure as a driving machine and as a workable concept. This is a solution dreamed up by engineers; it has the unmistakable absence of creativity, and it possesses that distinct lack of understanding of what makes ideas powerful.

ohhh thats pretty lol... very smooth
