Peugeot 308 CC First Official Photos Released
UPDATE: High resolution images and official press release have been added.
First previewed as the 308 RC Z concept in Frankfurt last year, the 308 CC is supposed to be revealed again in Frankfurt 2009 as previously announced in a Peugeot statement confirming production. However, with the surfacing of these images snagged from the Peugeot.com site, which have since been taken down, perhaps Peugeot have decided on a home grown debut in Paris this October. If so, market launch could be as early as spring 2009.
The front end and interior of the 308 CC look almost identical to the RC Z concept, however, besides the lower diffuser section in the rear bumper fascia, the rear gets a more conventional design in line with the little sibling, the 207 CC.
Besides the existing engines in the 308 range, it has been hinted by Peugeot officials that a diesel hybrid engine as demonstrated in the Peugeot 308 HybridHDi may be used. If so, it would be the world's first hybrid coupe convertible.
Ok, overall appearence is quite nice, but the front looks almost identical to all other latest Peugeot models (nearly as worse as Audi's), but the "lifted" hood of the the Peugeot's face looks not very sporty combined with the very low window line, so no nice proportions there in my opinion.
This car was made to be a successor for the Audi TT for example ... but it doesn't look sporty ... good example is the fake diffusor in the back ... that looks embarrassing.
In my opinion, when Audi design a sporting car, they do it well and manage to keep their design identity, so I have to disagree with you on that.
As for Peugeot, this is an awkward looking fat metrosexual blob of a car. What Audi do so well, Peugeot/Citroen muck up by using the same front fascia as their regular cars that aren't sporty. What you get is a regular with a sporty ass-end at best. Anyone got a light?
P.S. - 'Successor' is the wrong word, what you mean is competitor.
well... they retain the nice looking front bumper... and they attempted to design the rest of the car to look nice... but I agree with FP23, it doesn't match up, and it looks like it is an aftermarket upgrade kit more then a whole new car.
Nice rear end, makes the 308 look more exotic now.
its shapes looks like a Volvo Coupe...more attractive yes...but still a volvo coupe clone...
it doesn't give me the excitement you expect from a coupe cabriolet, sorry, please guys don't encourage Peugeot for such junky designs. They at least must be honest enough to pretend that it is not a 2+2, simply a 2 seater, they should not waste money for the miniature and useless rear seats and headrests. We dont buy it anymore...
The car looks just "ok". Is a nice, bland, clean design. They went for the safer way, instead of having the balls and go with the original concept design, which it was AMAZING!!! It could've been much better. They started good by respecting the front end, but the sides and back end, come on!! just boring and usual as other cars we already see in the road.
PS. notice in the inside cabin how they pull forward the front seats to give the impression there's enough of "knee" space on the back! Nice!! They're just comfy leather seats for the grocerie bags! At least they can seat back and ride safely with seat belts while the air blows right at the tomatoes and carrots.
Currently drive a '07 Megane CC, the seats are a joke! This looks nice, clever marketing by Peugeot, I'm only 5'9 and my seat leaves about 2 inches of leg room! My next car is well-built albeit boring Audi A3, also significantly less girly!
nice looking car i just hope that the back seats r actually usable
Bravo Peugot! Chicks will like this one for sure.
the first of the 207/308 gaping mouth Peugoets I've actually liked.
i am not a fan of those Peugeot's "i will eat you all" fronts, but this one is for sure far better looking than the previous model, especially from the rear which was completely out of place on 307 CC. Just please peugeot, leave those ugly fronts alone, find another design language.
It's a great looking car, but I wish Peugeot would get away from using the HUGE open on the front bumper.
So hard to comment that beatiful car. At the top by the look but remains near to bottom when buying a car.
Like it. the backend looks interesting. With small lights and the diffusor. I wish, there will be a glasroof like the RC Z had. it will fit the roofline better. This bodycoloured roof looks to voluminous. Rest is great. congrats Peugeot!
GUYS!!! 308 CC is Not real 308 RC Z concept! these are two different models, they will be produced and sold saparately! 308 RC Z will be on sale in 2010!
If you drive one of these in public you will need to keep it in reverse. That way people will see the half way decent looking end first. Uuuuuuuggggglllyy!

finally, a Peugeot that looks good
