This past weekend was the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed, a venue which is becoming an excellent launching pad for the manufacturers to show off their latest prototypes under devlopment. You may remember last year a pre-production Nissan GT-R prototype burned some rubber for the appreciating public and this year Jaguar have used the event to show off their upcoming ZF-R.

The short video clip shows the model buring some rubber on the race circuit and our first real chance to hear the expected 500hp supercharged 5.0-liter engine hiding beneath the models posterior.

The quad exhaust set-up gives the XF-R a mean look to it, the front end was still heavily camoflaged but there is likely to be an aggressive front styling hiding underneath. We expect to see its worldwide debut at the British Motor Show later this month.

Wow, the XK-R really needs that engine, now that the 416bhp engine lost its "R" exclusivity.

oops someone has fat fingers, lol I truly believe that jaguar have lost there old image and now are more appealing than ever! However 500bhp doesn't sound like much especially considering the fact jaguar will be using forced induction i.e a supercharger as they do with all their r badged products. This implies jaguars engineering is not up to scratch and is some what lagging when compared to its rivals such as BMW.

Good engineering does not nescessarily mean high hp/Liter of displacement numbers, for example look at any tuner car running 30psi. I think this is aiming more for a reliable 4door with some muscle then it is a track car or drag car. lol buts that just my opinion.

No, it implies that Jaguar feels it does not need to join the ridiculous German power wars. Big hp does not necessarily a good car make.

This car would rock if it had +100hp.

I think that's just WCF's rubbish journalism at work. "Posterior" doesn't mean what the author likely thinks it does.

I like it, Jaguar is taking strides. 500hp not enough ? yea its less than the Germans but given the out-going Rs, XK and S type both had "merely" 400~hp range, 500hp is a big improvement especially given they were just sold a few months ago. Jaguars doing good, makes me happy.

Think this is a great looking jag even though would of looked even better if kept closer to the concept. 500hp is a start, i wouldnt mind 500hp.

For what most people are going to use this car for 500bhp i guess more than enough.
