We are hours away from Volkswagen Group's unveiling event prior to the commencement of the Paris Motor Show tomorrow. One vehicle we can look forward to seeing is the Audi A1 Sportback Concept and thanks to the embargo breaking fellas at Auto Motor und Sport, we can bring you the first official images and details of the model.

The new sportback concept follows in the footsteps of the A1 Metroproject Quattro Concept that was unveiled in Tokyo last year. Its overall length is just shy of four meters, leaving a sizeable gap between itself and the larger A3 sportback which comes in a 4.29 meters.

Power comes from a 150hp 1.4-liter TFSI engine which is combined with a 20Kw (27hp) hybrid unit that will provide the A1 Concept with an additional 150Nm of torque. Couple these with Audi's dual-clutch S-Tronic gearbox and the A1 Sportback Concept can thrust itself from 0-100km/h in just 7.9 seconds. Fuel consumption lies at an admirable 3.9 liters per 100km whilst emissions come in at 92g/km.

Full details and high res images will be here on WCF later this evening.

That's very impressive. This is unquestionably the production version, although I expect the interior and front lights will get toned down.

I don't think this has an Audi ASF either, does it?

too good to be true.

The exterior isn't too bad looking, however the interior is horrendous, especially the centre console. What did they run out of money or parts or something when putting it together?? Figures are magnificient and CO2 great. But when I look at that interior I battle to keep my lunch down.

Wow! What an engine! 0-100 in 8s and 100km under 4 litres of petrol :) but the drawback is that it's a hybrid. I hope it won't be expensive.

I'm sure this is pretty much the production model -- just toning some things down. They probably will also remove the hybrid battery and keep a conventional petrol engine.

Probably won't be first sold as a hybrid variant, but will probably adopt the technology when it becomes viable, as their small diesels and petrols are already economical enough.

it´s a drawing, i expect the interior to be very and the exterior to be slightly different.
