Two things you need off the road: a compass and a jeep

We've already shown you spy photos of the Dodge Caliber, and now comes the Jeep Compass - a sibling as far as chassis sharing goes. The five-passenger Compass will be built off the future Mitsubishi Lancer front-wheel-drive platform, although all-wheel drive will be available as an option.

The Belvidere, Illinois-built Compass will have an on sale date slated for late next summer, and an estimated annual production run of 45,000 to 50,000 units annually. The Compass is expected to be powered by a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine and will be comparable in size to the Nissan X-Trail, but likely offer a broader appeal.
